Soy Garlic Honey Chicken Wings

There’s something magical about fried chicken. In Korea, it’s not just food—it’s an experience. Whether you’re unwinding after a long day with a cold beer and crispy wings, or stretching out on a picnic blanket in the park during a summer evening, fried chicken fits right in. And the best part? You don’t even need to cook—it’ll come right to you, still hot and crunchy, thanks to the endless delivery options we’re lucky to have.
One summer night, I was sitting in a small park with a couple of friends. The sun had just dipped below the horizon, and we were all craving something delicious. Within minutes, we pulled out our phones and ordered our favorite: soy garlic honey chicken wings from a local fried chicken shop. The moment that sweet, savory aroma hit the air, we knew we’d made the right choice. It was the perfect pairing—golden hour, cold drinks, good company, and those sticky, addictive wings.
That memory stuck with me. So I decided to recreate those wings at home.
This soy garlic honey chicken wings recipe is inspired by that very shop—crispy, juicy, coated in a sweet and salty glaze that clings to every bite. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and now, it can be yours too.

Method
- (Optional) Soak chicken wings in milk for 10 minutes to remove any odor.
- Rinse chicken wings with water thoroughly and drain well.

- Place wings in a bowl or ziplock bag.

- Add starch, a pinch of salt and pepper, and 1 tbsp of vegetable oil.

- Shake or mix until evenly coated.

- Preheat to 180°C (356°F).

- Cook wings 20 minutes, then flip and cook another 10–15 minutes until golden and crispy.

- Bake at 200°C (392°F) for about 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway.
- While wings are cooking, add all sauce ingredients to a pan.

- Simmer over medium heat for 3–5 minutes, until slightly thickened.

- Once it bubbles and becomes glossy, remove from heat.

- Add cooked wings to the sauce pan over low to medium heat.

- Toss quickly to coat—do not overcook in the sauce (less than 2 minutes), or it may burn.

- Plate the glazed wings.

- Garnish with parsley flakes, green onions, or sesame seeds if desired.
- Enjoy with a cold beer or your favorite drink!
Notes
- You can deep-fry for ultra-crispy wings, but it requires more cleanup.
- Add a pinch of red chili flakes or Korean gochugaru to the sauce.
